Shifts In Business, Life
And Travel
When it comes to
the speed of how things are moving in the world, I think I speak for all when I
say most times I have to try and catch up.
Technology
has drastically changed the way we operate in our day-to-day lives. We are now
able to make payments for items we need and want from the comfort of our homes.
We no longer need to hold the world in our hands; we can make things happen
with the touch of our fingertips.
Some major
changes in the way we interact would be the use of cellphones, which now have
instant messaging applications and video calling capabilities such as Skype and
Face Time. We are also using social media platforms as a faster way to connect
and it also gives individuals a voice they wouldn’t have thought possible 20
years ago.
Many news
stations are now looking towards Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as outlets to
retrieve developing stories first hand. Also, advertisers/ marketers are using
the information collected from our habits online to tailor various deals and
promotions to suit each consumers needs. We can now make
transportation for ground, air and marine travel remotely from our PEDs as
well. Also, business meetings and transactions are securely happening through online outlets.
With all the developments happening around the world the likeliness of being up to date may not even be a choice anymore, but a mandatory action to take. Robert Herjavec, a well known entrepreneur said, “In fact being connected will be obsolete, because we just will be. The Internet will become like electricity — we will only notice it when it does not exist.” Source: (http://www.cloudcomputinginfo.ca/insight/shark-tanks-robert-herjavec). This type of view on the way the world will be in the next 5- 10 years no longer seems possible, but caving in even faster than before.
